Recanati is a town and commune in the province of Macerata.
Recanati was the hometown of world-famous tenor Beniamino Gigli and poet Giacomo Leopardi, which is why the town is known to some as 'the city of poetry'.
Main sights are: Palazzo Leopardi and the Church of Santa Maria in Montemorello (XVI sec.), the Church of Sant'Agostino with the 'Passero solitario' Tower, Leopardi Squares and the Communal Palace.
